Beginner learners
Opportunity to participate in a research study and learn the Irish language at the same time. PhD student Elaine Beirne from Dublin City University is currently recruiting beginner learners of the Irish language to participate in her study which

explores the emotional experiences of learners as they learn a language online.

This research is important as by learning more about the emotions learners experience in online language learning environments, we will be able to improve the design of courses going forward.

Your participation in this study would involve enrolling in a free three week online Irish language course. The workload is estimated to involve three hours of learning per week. During the course, you will be required to answer a number of short surveys following different tasks. Ethics approval for this study was received from the Research Ethics Committee DCU (Ref: RECDCU/2018/044).

The study will take place in May 2018. The course in question is called Irish 101. It is an Irish language and culture course developed and delivered by Dublin City University. It is delivered through the FutureLearn Platform. If you would like to learn more about this study please click here to read the plain language statement. You can watch this video in which I explain what the study is all about.

If you are interested in enrolling in the course and participating in the study please click here and complete the expression of interest form.
