Members and their friends are cordially invited to a talk:“An Irish-Australian Catholic Country Childhood” by Kathleen Gilbert

- on Wednesday, 23 May 2018 at 6.00 pm

- at the office of The Consulate- General of Ireland, Level 26, 1 Market Street Sydney.

[Doors open at 5.45 pm but please ensure you arrive prior to 6.00 pm when public lift access ceases]   


Kathleen Gilbert grew up in the 1950s and 1960s on a sheep and wheat farm on the Murray River. She studied at the University of Sydney and worked as a teacher in secondary school and adult migrant education. In this talk Kathleen will give her reminiscences of growing up in a country district where the names were Irish but the ways were Australian.
