The annual general meeting of The Aisling is on Wednesday, 28 February 2018 at 6.00 pm at The Consulate General of Ireland , Level 26, 1 Market Street Sydney.

Ciara Smart will be the guest speaker on the night: 

“Excused only through the Exigencies of Narrative”

Ciara Smart has a Bachelor of International and Global Studies in History, with First Class Honours, from the University of Sydney. Her thesis questions the widely held belief that a uniquely benevolent relationship existed between Irish and Aboriginal people in colonial Australia. She explains how and why the myth came to be promoted by the Irish, English and Aboriginal people.
